Built by an indie developer passionate about reading and technology, VocaRead ships its own neural text-to-speech engines — accelerated by the Apple Neural Engine — to deliver voices that sound genuinely human. No cloud, no subscription, no tracking — just you and your books.

The app offers more than 80 voices across 30+ languages, works 100% offline on iPhone and iPad, extends to Apple Watch and CarPlay, and respects your privacy completely. Your books and data never leave your devices.

We made two choices early on that still guide everything we build. First, the voice should be generated on your device, never in the cloud — so your reading stays private and works without a signal. Second, you should pay once and own it, with no subscription quietly draining your account every month. Those two principles cost us some convenience as developers, but they're the reason people trust VocaRead with the books that matter to them.
